In the Joint National Travel Regulations, you can learn more about interruptions to operation, through-tickets, luggage rules, travel time guarantee and how to complain.
In our general terms and conditions for DSB's app you can read about the app in general and about other products available in the app.

When using DSB's app, data may be collected and processed that can be attributed to you. In its capacity as data controller, DSB has several obligations towards you, just as you as a data subject have several rights. These obligations and rights are established in the applicable data protection law at any given time. The data we process depends on which features in the App you use.

DSB's app is offered and owned by DSB, Telegade 2, 2630 Taastrup, CVR No. 25050053.

1. Processing of your personal data

The purpose of processing personal data in DSB's app is to provide you with a platform where you can purchase tickets and commuter passes, view your own purchase transactions as well as use various services such as traffic information and favourite routes.

Your information is collected under Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), since they are necessary to fulfil our agreement with you.

1.1 Purchase of tickets

When purchasing a ticket through DSB's app, we process necessary personal data so that we can issue your requested ticket and subsequently check it when you are traveling. Data processed includes travel details, purchase history, payments, operating system on your mobile device along with a unique identifier associated with the app version in connection with the installation. This can assist troubleshooting so that improvements can be made to the app.

Data related to your ticket purchases will be stored for current year +5 years in accordance with the Danish Bookkeeping Act.

1.2 DSB Plus Profile in DSB's app

If you create or use a DSB Plus profile via DSB's app, you can in the General terms and conditions for the use of DSB Plus find information about what personal data might get processed about you and how long this data is stored, depending on which services you have signed up for.

1.3 Information based on location Data & Activity Data

Within this application you might opt-in the following location-based services:

  • Locating nearest stops/stations when planning trips
  • Displaying current position on live maps showing traffic
  • Navigating door-to-door throughout journey
  • Calculating estimated arrival times at destinations
  • Finding traffic updates
Your information is collected under Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), since they are necessary to fulfil our agreement with you.

Location data used for these purposes is deleted after a maximum of two hours. However, a special deletion period applies to the Check-in functionality, see section 1.4. You can enable or disable the use of location data in your phone's settings.

You can turn the use of location data on or off within the settings of your phone.

1.4 Check In functionality

If you wish to use the Check in functionality in DSB's app, you must accept the use of location data and activity data (motion & fitness) while using the functionality.
To determine your location more precisely when you cannot get a GPS signal, we collect Bluetooth signals from beacons that are installed at underground DSB and Metro stations. On an iOS operating system, we collect the Bluetooth signal from beacons via the location permission. If you use a phone with an Android operating system, you must give DSB's app access to use Bluetooth if you want to check in on Metro.

Read more in the Terms of use for Check in.

DSB uses your location, Bluetooth and activity data to be able to calculate the price of your journey and to be able to subsequently handle questions about this.

Furthermore, location and Bluetooth data are used to be able to display means of transport where you can use the Check in functionality on your overview page.

DSB uses your location, activity and Bluetooth data to assess when you have finished your journey in order to remind you to check out via a notification.
The abovementioned data underlying your calculated journey is collected and processed based on Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation, as it is necessary to provide the Check-in functionality. Any information that is not part of your calculated journey is subsequently processed based on Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation and used for support and troubleshooting, as well as to provide customer service and prevent misuse.

DSB stores your location and activity data in connection with journeys made using the Check-in functionality for up to 60 days, counted from the payment of the journey.

1.5 Disclosure

We disclose pseudonymized information about journeys made with Check in, as well as tickets and cards, to other transport companies. We only disclose this information to the relevant transport companies. For journeys within the DOT area (Zealand and the islands), this refers to the parties in DOT. For other journeys, it refers to the transport companies for which the travel entitlement was valid. The information is used for analysis and traffic planning purposes, as well as for revenue distribution.

Similarly, we may disclose pseudonymized information about journeys to Trafikstyrelsen, which distributes certain revenues in public transport.

If you have purchased a ticket or card that is valid for other transport companies besides DSB, DSB may - if relevant - disclose your personal data and purchase details with these transport companies to be used in their independent processing of penalty fare cases, travel time guarantee cases, or customer inquiries, etc.

The legal basis is our and the transport companies' legitimate interest in achieving this purpose, pursuant to Article 6(1)(e) and (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Furthermore, we may disclose pseudonymized information about journeys—if full anonymization is not possible—for research projects. We will only disclose this information if we specifically assess that it is legal and serves a legitimate and reasonable purpose.

2. Misuse

In case of specific suspicion of misuse of DSB's app, your information may also be used in connection with investigations of any irregularities. The purpose is to prevent and detect irregularities that may result in losses for DSB. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in achieving this purpose, pursuant to Article 6(1)(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

3. Statistics & Error Reporting

DSB collects data in anonymized form about use of DSB's app to generate statistics, optimize the app's functionality and user-friendliness, and to report errors in DSB's app.
